The people here are my favorite part of the school. I've formed bonds with several different professors, that give great advice and made some amazing friends.
I wanted a school that was going to be a good social and academic fit for me. When searching for a college, I wanted a school with a strong sense of community, and Towson became the one for me. I've been able to befriend people with similar interests as me, which is great but also gain exposure to other types of people.
Don't ever feel pressured by your friends or family to go to a certain school or choose a particular career path. You are the one shaping your future, not them. Explore the things that make you happy.
My favorite spot on campus is suite 313 in the Union which houses Student Success Programs (SSP) and the Center for Student Diversity (CSD). The people working there are very friendly and provide me with different resources and opportunities. SSP has a great program called SAGE for first- gen students, which has helped me build so many friendships and find mentorship. Many organizations under the CSD such as In The Life, LASO (Latin American Student Organization), and BSU (Black Student Union) organize multiple events that anyone can enjoy. We've had guest speakers such as Laverne Cox, cultural competency workshops to talk about issues such as microaggressions, and celebrations for graduating seniors.
