A research project that has definitely influenced my life was protein research I have done with Dr. Warren in Molecular Biology lab. Not only did it give me the opportunity to be an Undergraduate Learning Assistant but it also made me realize what I want to pursue in my career. I now know I want to become a researcher and work with proteins and other molecular processes.
I personally chose the honors college because I was looking to join a community of passionate and driven individuals. I one hundred percent got that experience and I love being able to get involved and learn more from every person in the honors college.
Advice I would give to an prospective honors student is to get involved and find a place with in the community that is going to lift you up and help you grow both professionally and personally. I have met people that have given me amazing opportunities through honors college events and programs.
My favorite aspects of the honors community are the unique and interesting seminars. Without the honors college I would not be able to learn more about such diverse topics. My major is very strict so I am lucky to be a part of a program that allows you to extend your educational knowledge outside of your specific realm of study.
