My favorite aspect would be the community I have found with Honors students as well as faculty. I've found lifelong friends as well as mentors who have helped shaped my college experience!
I took a Honors Seminar called "The Home and the Human" that explored the impact of displacement on human lives. This class opened my eyes to the millions of displaced people around the globe and how they are negatively affected by their trauma. As a Family and Human Services Major, this has caused me to become more aware of the trauma influencing the lives of refugees.
Be open to learning other's perspectives. The Honors College emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary studies. Learning other's perspectives can help you gain new ways of thinking as well as broaden your understanding.
I joined the Honors College to go deeper in my education, to gain more opportunities, and find a community of motivated scholars. The Honors College has proved to be all of these but also so much more!
